Here is how I resolved my issue.

How To Connect AirPods to a Dell Laptop

  1. Put the AirPods into their own case
  2. On the back of the case, there’s a small button. Press and hold that until the light turns white.
  3. On your Dell laptop, go to the Bluetooth settings and choose “Add a Device”.
  4. You should see the AirPods on the screen in front of you.
  5. Choose the connect/pair option and they are then connected.

Make sure the lid is open - the white pairing light won't work if it's closed. Hold the button until the white light starts flashing, then click add device on computer. This worked for me.

I recently have received a pair of airpods (yay!) and am trying to connect them to my work laptop, which is a Dell Latitude e7440. I've followed all the internet's how-to guides; the airpods are in pairing mode (in their case, white light blinking), bluetooth is on and updated on my laptop, but the airpods are never appearing in the bluetooth list. The light never turned white. It went from green to nothing. Still wasn't sensed by my laptop, nonetheless.

On the Dell laptop, Win11, under Bluetooth Devices Discovery I had to switch to "Advanced" mode. Then scroll down and go to Sound and Add Device -> Bluetooth. Finally connected.
