DESTINATION AS A BRAND: THE IMPACT OF PUSH AND PULL FACTORS OF TRAVEL MOTIVATION ON CUSTOMER-BASED DESTINATION EQUITY

2022 •

Fatih Pektas

This study investigated the effect of push and pull factors of travel motivation, which is one of the main reasons behind someone's travels, on customer-based destination equity. For this purpose, 468 data were gathered from foreign tourists in Alanya, Turkey. Explanatory factor analysis was used due to the addition of new variables in the scale of push and pull factors of travel motivation. Velicer's minimum average partial (MAP) test and Horn's parallel analysis were used to determine the factor numbers in the explanatory factor analysis. In the customer-based destination equity scale, confirmatory factor analysis was used because this scale was taken as it is. Relationships between dependent and independent variables were examined by correlation and regression analyses. The study results demonstrate that push and pull factors of travel motivation affect destination awareness, destination association, perceived destination quality, economic value of destination, and destination loyalty.

Conceptual Model of Destination Branding: An Integrative Approach

2019 •

Paulo Matos Graça Ramos

The purpose of this study is to contribute to a conceptual development of destination branding (DB) through the development of an integrative conceptual model. A self-administered survey of tourists from Porto and Norte (Portugal) was undertaken and resulted in a sample of 467 respondents. Multivariate statistics were analysed with structural equation modelling (SEM) using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences–Analysis of Moments Structures (SPSS–AMOS) software. We observed that brand associations influence significantly the brand image. We also discovered a positive relationship between perceived quality and brand image and a positive impact of perceived quality on satisfaction. Among other things, the model predicts that the effects of brand image and satisfaction explain tourist loyalty. We concluded that this integrative conceptual model, with more consistent measuring scales, is an original and relevant contribution since, in practical terms, the model and the data collec...

Role of tourist destination development in building its brand image:

Parikshat Singh Manhas

Tourism is truly an international/global industry. Tourism is vital to the economy of a country and sustainable tourism development requires an understanding of the complex interrelationships and interactions among a multitude of environmental factors and interdisciplinary forces that play a critical role in tourism development. While overall the field of tourism has been abundantly researched, there are certain areas where there is a paucity of research, namely, competition analysis, branding and positioning. Our research contributes to this extremely important but relatively less researched subject. Specifically, we study the relationship between destination development and its brand image. We develop a conceptual model which identifies various constructs, processes and linkages involved in the relationship between destination development and its brand image. We propose that the brand image has three components corresponding to the three stages of consumption/travel, namely, pre-travel, during travel, and posttravel. In developing this model we draw upon the interdisciplinary nature of tourism and discuss a variety of influences, such as, economic, social, cultural, political and psychological factors.

(2019) for destination loyalty. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were employed. The findings reveal that participants had a highly favorable perception on the cognitive component and a very highly favorable perception on the affective component of the destination. They were highly satisfied with various aspects of the villa such as destination facilities, safety, cleanliness, guest service, and entertainme...
